New Stiletto Roofer's Hatchets!

I got my hands on Stiletto's new Roofer's Hatchets for testing before their release to the public in May:

Specs:

* 10oz. Titanium Head!

* Shingle Gauge

* Hickory Handles

* AJC micro blades for cutting stock

* Magnetic Nail Holder "in" the Milled Face

* Face Slanted Back to land truer on the roof's pitched surface when struck
(of course, regular hammers are made to be nailed on surfaces like walls
and floors with are perpendicular to the striking face)

I'm trying it out in a couple of days! Will let you know how they perform.

Learning curve...just like with my Stiletto Framer. At first, it felt odd, but after I learned how it worked, it was a thing of beauty to sink a 16D in 3 swings or less without the stress.

I imagine the roofer's hatchet to work similarly.

I have my own Roofing Hatchet in development now. I got to talkin' to Stiletto and we might be working together on a really hot Hatchet (mine!).

These feel nice. I can't wait to use them tomorrow.

Odd shape and I'm more partial to traditional roofing hatchets,
but I'm going to give these a shot.

No. I was sure to ask them about talking about it on the forum and they were okay with that. It's going to be offered publically in about 6 weeks anyway.

That Ti7 is an nice piece of work. But when I saw their Death Sticks, they had the emblems falling off, I heard that their notorious for their handles breaking under normal use.

They look like their geared for production roofers. Personally, like I said, I prefer a traditional hatchet style. But let's see what happens.

There was a time when I wouldn't use Ridgid because of the horrible Home Deopot Orange color scheme, but after using one of their vacs on a job and seeing in reviews that they compete directly with the most expensive vacs and rated higher than most of them, I put my personal opinion to the side and ran and got me a 16 gal. Ridgid Vac (and I love it).

The Ti7 has a lifetime warranty so I'm not too concerned

Looks like a Honda Civic with eight-thousand dollar rims and fifty-thousand dollars worth of stereo.

Looks good. Sounds good. But that is all there is to it.

I have never tried one, but the design is flash and only flash IMNSHO.

I don't see any problem with it lasting (it's solid titanium and has a steel striking surface).

What about pulling nails. I wouldn't want to switch hammers through out the day. To each his own I guess.

I use an Estwing 20 oz. now. Maybe I should try something different next time I need a new one.

I am an Estwing (I love it when tradesman say EASTwing!) guy. Ever since my youth and rock-hounding. http://www.geo-tools.com/Images/Prod...12oz-1-big.jpg.

But I do see, after all the chat here, for a change and an upgrade to a Stiletto!!! Or 2ndGen's project........

All a roofer needs is a 16 or 20 oz. estwing straight clay. Roofers in these parts have never heard of nor have a need for a hatchet.
