New Roof, No Vent!

Here's a tricky scenario (at least in my novice eyes).

I own an old shotgun house in New Orleans. The dimensions are 14' x 60'. There's a hip in the front, a gable vent in the back, and no soffits. Nope. None.

How can I vent this thing without adding turbines? I prefer a ridge vent with a vapor barrier. How can I get the necessary intake?

Help, guys!

Emily

I have 4 turbines on my roof. Equally spaced on back ridge of roof. I'm moving serious air in my attic. Its a high visible look but its on the back so i don't care.

First of all, do you understand how venting works?

If you will not be adding soffit vents for intake air, then the roof vents will do more harm than good.

I don't understand what you mean by a ridge vent with "vapor barrier". Please explain......

Does the attic even allow for venting? Meaning, is it open from eve to ridge so air can flow through?

And lastly,Are you experiencing problems with moisture in the attic now? I just wonder why you want to add roof vents when there were none there to begin with? Has something changed to make you think you need to vent the attic?
