I know I posted some photos of one I did in 1991 before, but this is the only photo I could find right away.

About $ 18,000 with a T.O and R.R. with 25 year JM Woodlands back then.

Elgin, near Sherman Hospital on River Bluff Road.

18 contractors gave quotes on the job and I was the 2nd or 3rd highest at that time. I still did it way too cheap. It wound up being a break even job, but it sure was unique.

It looks similar to a house in Evanston on Golf Rd. Seems to be quite a few of that style roof out this way, I haven't seen as many in other parts of the country. I can't even imagine the amount of work that goes into one of those.

There is on on either Golf or 58, which I don't remember if that id Dempster by that time and another on on Hough Street in downtown Barrington, also called Barrington Road, but both that I know of only have the curved gable/rake edges, and not the sloped hips and valleys.

They really do catch your eye though.

The curved rake/gable edges turned out to have an exact 3 foot arc.

The house picture is in Plum Grove Estates, Palatine (just off Algonquin and Rt.53), if all goes well it'll be my next door neighbor.

I'm pretty sure I know the house you're talking about, I was thinking Highland Park (east of 41), might be Deerfield, it's bugging me now, next time I'm up that way (hopefully with the digital camera), I'll take a picture, it's a really cool and unique house.

Yup, if it's the same one....
Unfortunately I was more interested
in unscrewing my "short-cut" than
where I actually was at the time.
I saw a lot of Deerfield that day
that I never knew existed.
