My First Roof...

I have a new found respect for roofers.

I just did a complete tear off, plywood and all. It took me and my cousin 16 days in 90+ heat. How the hell do u guys deal with that all the time? Im done with roofing except a garage or other small project. I did around 13sq and never want to do that s**t again. The roof was so far from square, some rafters were longer or higher than others, previous idiots used 2 2x4's one on top of the other vertical for the peak instead of a 2x8. Now the roof has a sag in one spot.

Anyway people driving past loved the work and thought I was a contractor and wanted me to give them an estimate on their houses. I told them im the home owner and they couldn't believe it. Sorry not gonna do roofing everyday. I used to do construction. So after researching all that I could from you real roofers, I knew I could handle my roof...and of course it was a way bigger job than foreseen by anyone, even a pro roofer I know(who was way too busy to help me except on the phone). Thanks Dave!

I love this site and all the information thats shared here. Im a pro car customizer and mechanic and I share my knowledge at automotiveforums and cardomain so I appreciate all u guys that do the same and help people like me get the job done RIGHT. Gotta finish trimming, caulking and add gutters.
