Mushroom Wood Shingle Roof

Will be re-roofing a mushroom style wood shingle roof soon. Looks like the one on the qualityplusroofing.com homepage.

I have a subcontractor who specializes in this type work. I want to pay him a fair wage however, I don't want to be overcharged. Does anybody have any idea what a fair price per square would be? I know there are a lot of variables but just looking for a starting point. Roof is 10/12 and about as detailed as the one in picture.
Thanks

I would imagine a starting point of $350-400 would not be unreasonable. You said these were wood shingles?

Last time I checked (recently) shakes were at $255/sq. I can easily see the labour being at least that as well.

If they are soaking them in a vat or steaming them, then the labor charge could easily be in the $ 500.00 per square range. If you have someone who is skilled at that application, then their price is probably going to be the only one you need to ask about, because that is so custom detailed. Just charge enough to cover their labor and material price with your OH & P added on top.

Paying a subcontractor a "fair wage"? I smell the suedo-sub game thing......

You can find only one roofing contrator to bid this project? Then I suppose your at his mercy for what he'll charge you.....Aren't you?

"Mushroom style"?...never heard it called that before! I know what you mean though.....We used to callit "ocean-wave"....

I have heard it called mushroom style roof and gingerbread and thatch like. From the pattern on that web site, it does look like an ocean wave. Cool.
