Mold On Cedar Fascia And Soffit

I was at a house today. The home owner requested an estimate because he thought his cedar roof is moldy. He has a minor moss issue that can be dealt with, but I didn't see any mold on the roof, from the outside.

The home owner's cedar fascia soffit and freize board, and cedar siding, was totally trashed with mold especially in the shaded areas. I've never seen anything like this before.

The cedar is about 10 years old. The house isn't shaded TOO much. I can't think of what could have caused it. The gutter flashing looks instact I'm at a loss. Any advice? I want to go back to do an attic inspection. I wasn't able to today

Grumpy, It's amazing what primitive plants can do. I think that you know how to fix it, sounds like good bucks to me.

A lot of the North American ceder milled in the 90s had a virus that causes moss to reproduce at an extrodanary rate. The National Committiee for the Presivation of Millwork got involved and named the virus, Moss ****. Just kidding
