Mobile Home Roof

Hey guys
Looking for some info on mobile home roofing material that has the insulation, deck, and a rubber top that is glued down. I was talking to a guy at the remodelers show last week but he could not tell me where I can go to look at this product to see if it would work for me. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Mobile Home Roof

The way ive always done it was to install a 2x4 around the perimeter and then fasten down a layer of inch and a half iso board over the galvanized tring to hit the little rafters with as many screws as possible. Then adhere a epdm membrane over that install drip edge and strip it in.
Sounds easier than it is. If you haven't done it before (epdm) you need to get someone proficient at it to help.

Thanks RoofGod for the info. Would that be strong enough to walk on. I have a swamp cooler that needs the normal work year in and year out. Again thanks for the info I will check out epdm.

Re: Mobile Home Roof

hey Guys
Here is a new one on me. I was talking to a commercial roofer and he said to put down 2 inch insulation and cover that with green board then glue the rubber rolled on top. I have never heard of using green board. Sometimes I just think that people make this stuff up when you ask questions. Any comments?

Re: Mobile Home Roof

WTF is the greenboard for? The only reason that I'm asking is that I have a fellow VNV that needs some help. I'm mobile and he's not. I'll be doing the labor.

Re: Mobile Home Roof

I don't know about green board but some times a type of drywall called densdeck is used as a cover board for roofs that get a lot of traffic and for a fire barrier. I don't think you would need it on a mobile home though.
As for strength yes you can walk on it it should be fine if you use at least 1 1/2" iso. The thicker the stronger it will be.
I put 3" once on a trailer with a pretty flimsy galvanized roof and it seemed like you could drive a truck on it.

Re: Mobile Home Roof

If you want it really strong what about sheeting, then iso, then membrane?

Re: Mobile Home Roof

thanks
Densdeck if the stuff I checked on. I checked out a roof today and it was solid. I walked around on it and did not feel any sag. The rubber on top just needed a top coat of white and it was ready to go. I think thats they way I am going to go. I am going to price it out in the next few days and will let you know the prices I found. Thanks everyone.

Re: Mobile Home Roof

Make sure you cut and install the densdeck on the hottest, most humid day of the year tho. Makes for a much better and enjoyable installation.
