Metal Roofing Question?

I have a customer a just did large kitchen addition for. She now wants a custom overhang for over her side kitchen door. All I have to go buy is a picture from a Lowes flier from a paint add.
The overhang has a slight curve to it (like a quarter pipe or a ski jump) and is covered in metal roofing.
I have called all over for a metal roofing suppliers and none stock it or now much about it.
With the ribs does the curve have to be customed rolled or can screwing it down to curved rafters curve it without kinking it. Also, it is better to put the metal roofing down on plywood or furring strips. I am thinking furring strips so there wont be large areas of metal in contact with the plywood. Dont want it to rust from the under side.
Normally I wouldnt even take this job but this customer has had 2 new baths and a brand new kitchen addition done from me so I said I will do it.
Also it is a very small overhang. 4' wide and 2' off the house. Will metal that short have much give to it?
Does anyone know of any metal rooinf suppliers in Ct.
Thanks everyone.

Re: Metal Roofing Question?

Must be custom formed. It will kink if you try to screw it. Even the flat seam panels need to be formed.

Re: Metal Roofing Question?

metal roofing has to be installed using cleats "not nailed or screwd" so that it can expand without oil canning. hire a sheet metal man or a roofer who does metal work.
You really have to know what your doing

Re: Metal Roofing Question?

Please, do not screw down the panels. You should call a metal roofing contractor. The pans defiantly need to be custom formed and fastened with cleats. Also, the thinner the gauge of metal the more it will form to curves.

Re: Metal Roofing Question?

I would check out the specs from your [removed] before you begin. A lot of roofs will need different things, such as the material to put below it as well as the length of space in between clamps. I would contact your roofing supplier first.

Re: Metal Roofing Question?

Down here we have 2 types of curved roofs
1. The curving quality sheet is put through a roller that curves the sheet
2. For gentle curves you can usually just drop the standard quality sheet on the timber or steel top hat battens

top hat batten

Usually there is a site setup fee and cost per sheet to curve sheeting.

Best to seek info from the sheet manufacture after you determine the radius of the curve.
