That seems to be a new interior decorating trend, especially if it's old, rusty corrugated metal. There was a recent "This Old House" show with a similar application.

I have seen alot of it lately around here too. I think even I could do it. What I have seen they just used the exposed nails with the rubber washer . Would be low maintanence I guess

Re: Metal Roofing On Interiors????

There is a less expensive metal for interiors. Most people use it for finishing garages or pole barns. It's quite a bit more expensive than sheetrock, if it's done correctly.

Re: Metal Roofing On Interiors????

I just built one of those preengineered steel garages for a guy and I used the same metal roofing and siding on the interior walls. It deffinetly looks nice although its a little hard to work with on the ceiling. I'll post some pics of the finished product in a little bit I gotta find the camera

Re: Metal Roofing On Interiors????

Ok heres the pics. I think it turned out pretty well, I bent A LOT of stuff on my brake on this job The only thing I can kick myself for is not wrapping the wood framing around the inside of the garage doors! The HO loves it, but thats the only thing that bothers me.

Re: Metal Roofing On Interiors????

We don't insulate anything here, so we get that look for half price.

Although that's a much cleaner look without the girts and purlins showing.

Re: Metal Roofing On Interiors????

Thanks guys! It was a real fun job, The ceiling was a little tricky. There was just two of us and the sheets were 21'6" long! I think I used a million rolls of coil To make almost all the trims, and each skylight pocket is wrapped.

Very nice work. Until I saw your pictures I had never even thought of that. I've done a few of the corregated galv. panel interior jobs. Looks neat if you like that "industrial" look.

Re: Metal Roofing On Interiors????

Installed corragated galv. on the ceiling of an old house built in the 20's. Plaster was crumbling and it had 12" of insulation above it. We ran 1x4's and screwed to them and then ran 12 volt hanging lights from exposed separated wire. Looked great all done and went well with the rest of the old house. The same house we also ran aluminum soffit down the hallway cieling after rewiring and reinstalled the rewired antique hanging light fixtures, looked good too. The entire house looked like it came right out of the 20's when finished, but all new. Bought it for $7K, put $18K in it and sold it for $75K. It sold in 2 weeks, had two offers, one the second day it was offered over the internet site unseen. Most shops in this area have liner panels, some only part way up the walls in wash bays. Also we recently put a finished basement together with the galv. panels 36" up the walls and drywalled the top half with a chair rail separating them. It sometimes got water so this eliminated any mold issues. Just sold that house last month, somebody knocked on the door and made an offer for more than we where going to ask, wasn't even on the market. Bought another vacant home and have started the updating already people wanting to know if it's going to be for sale when finished. No metal in this one yet though. It does have a hipped roof that I would like to put steel on at the bias.

Thanks guys, Yup the house on the next street has a cliff for a backyard. And the where the garage is was also a big hill. I wish I could remember how many tri-axels of dirt came out of there. In the first pic you can see the road if you look and the houses below. The second is the retaining wall, it is about 14' high and L shaped 60'x 110'.
