There is a nifty tool that is a slide hammer/nailpuller.....I don't own one but I have used one.....maybe someone will trip along that knows what it is called...then look on eBay.

Cats Paw,
shingle bar, shingle ripper
Don't know if this is what joasis had in mind. Once you get a bite use a shim shingle to protect the metal

I usually put something in 2 low spots and bridge the seam. Then use a roofer's bar, pronounced 'Rooster-Bar'. (Mine are made by Malco.)
If your bridge is thin enough, I use a nail puller that looks and acts like an 'autobody' dent puller. Looks like an antique, but lots of hardware stores carry them. When the jam grips the nail, it won't let go. Great tool for removing T&G nails in floors and walls with little to no damage.

This is what I have, but I wouldn't
say it does no damage.

(Including pinched fingers)
Is this what you were talking about
Tinner, Jo?
Maybe this would be a better choice
for the OP.....

With a shim for a cushion, might be less damage?

Thanks for the replys
A few old timers around mentioned this exact tool. Now I just need to see if I can find one,or if I need to go get a set of end nippers and some bar stock .
I cant decide if I need just normal old end nipers or if I need to get a set of horse shoers nippers becaruse there bigger and beefier.

Well I appriciate all you guys did Thanks again.
I ran into my fab guy to nite and hes been doing some asking around too,and heres what we came up with. Take a pair of end nippers and cut a small grove in the jaw to get around the shank of the nail below the head then we're going to make a slide hammer to attach to one handle and extend the other handle slightly and presto vertially damge free ring shank nail removel.
