Metal Roof Question

I'm fixing a small section of roof. Hurricane Gustav pulled off all of the panels. It's 17'4" across the top and meets another part of the roof at a valley. The panels run 10'3" down, and it's 13'10" wide at the bottom. It comes out to about 160 square ft. This is only one of two sections of the house with metal roofing. The rest of the house is shingles. I need to replace all 160 square ft. with new panels. The old panels were 18" wide, 26 gauge flat steel panels with flat 1" standing seams. I have looked all over locally for these panels, but only one place has them so far. They quoted me $1100, and that's just for the metal panels and a side drip edge. That does not include underlayment, clips, or screws. This comes out to almost $7 per square foot, just for materials. This seems very high to me.

Any advice from you metal roofers out there would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Metal Roof Question

With the cuts in the valley, from your measurements you need to take the total longest width of the roof section and divide it out by the width of each panel. That will give you an accurate number of panels at the appropriate length (10'3") with the necessary overhang from the eave. If you are not buying much metal from this supplier, you are going to get murdered on the price. Also, it is a very small order. Based on what you provided, if the metal is $7.00 per SF, it seems high. Try Mueller, Inc in Baton Rouge. They carry a 1" snapseam that may work for you.
