Lamarite Claim

I'm back, sorry i haven't replied sooner. I was shocked when i saw some of the comments about being a rep for a company, but i do understand. i don't have much free time so i don't get on very often. I am a small roofing contractor in w. massachusetts. My company name is Ridgeline Design. The details of my last post about the Lamarite job are accurate. I have some potentialy good news. Tamco has agreed to stand behind their product and replace the roof. Approximately 7,000 sq. ft. pretty cut up, lots of details. I originally installed the roof in june of 2004. We installed a random pattern of green, grey, and mulberrry. 1/3 of each color. We installed the roof system over a cold roof sheathing system. What happened is, last fall the owner noticed some lamarite on the ground right before it snowed. By spring time there was 28 broken "slate". the breakage is completely random. corners, horizontally, vertically, 1/4, to 4/5. makes no scense. I noticed that there was only breakage on the south and west sides. when the rep came out to inspect he said that "it is product failure and it is not uncommon" He also mentioned how bad the "slate" had fadded, which made a repair impossible. At this point Tamko was not willing to pay for removal or disposal of the existing roof. But now Tamko and the owner have reached an agreement that Tamko will pay for everything. The original GC is handleing things for the homeowner, and i was requested to bid the roof for a new install of Lamarite. I think the GC had to get other prices. Thats where i am now with this. haven't heard anything for two weeks. i will try to get some pics on for you all to see. I'll let you know how it unfolds. It's hard to believe that products are still being put to market with failures. (my father's company did a hockey rink for one of the privite schools, and the iko shingles completely failed after 9 years, 375 squares!!)
