Il.Roofing Licence Testingwhew! i have been searching all day. I have been Roofing for over 15 years and just got married and My Beautiful wife has insisted that i obtain one....woah i truly didnt know that there was a test involved, nor how involved it is! All my roofing bud's have thiers and they obtained them years ago, they didnt even know of the test! Plus the cost involved is wild! (meaning the books needed) I searched all sites and still only came up with NRCA. the only way to get the discounts on them there is to become a member. I was wonerding if anyone here would know of any "Roofing" classes that pre-pair you for the test....and in reading the app. requriements I have to have a Qulifying person to take the test? could someone help me figure that out? I truly dont want to sound stupid, but HELPPPP! Thanks so much! |

Re: Il.Roofing Licence Testing
I would think the NRCA Roofing and waterproofing manual and the OSHA safety guide for the construction industry would cover it.

Re: Il.Roofing Licence Testing
Contact the CRCA, which is the Chicago Roofing Contractors Association. They have a library of books that you can go there to use and read. I do not think that you can check them out though.
The NRCA Roofing Manual is available for free online, just by registering for free with the NRCA site. I just recieved my OSHA book for free, by attending a free 10 hour safety training certification, which was sponsored by the NRCA. You do not have to be a member to attend, but you do have to sign up as soon as they announce the classes, since they fill up almost immediately. I missed out on last years free session, because I tried to register one week after it was announced. All of the OSHA information is available on the OSHA web site for free too. I get my announcements from being registered on the NRCA site and recieve their Smart Briefs newsletter too. Ed |

Re: Il.Roofing Licence Testing
I have different answer for You!
For registration You have to pay at list 750$....then the books are "free". You realy need three books: Manual, Safety Pocket and Safety Manual....You have to know them very, very well. Then you need like 30 pages from estimating book. Belive me I just took a test and I have books. Buying a books is cheaper then registartion. NRCA is trying to be helpfull, but they dont have idea about test contest.... |

Re: Il.Roofing Licence Testing
Check with the DPFR and they will tell you the study materials. Infact there is a 3 or 4 question practice test and I think these resources are listed on that test. Yes the NRCA 5th edition and OSHA saftey guidelines as well as the book Roofing Consruction & Estimating are all suggested.

Re: Il.Roofing Licence Testing
HI there,
FIrst time posting on the site. I just signed up to take my IL Roofing Test in November and need to buy the books to study. Went to the various websites and the cost is over 1K. Does anyone have books out there that I can borrow or buy from you at a discount? I would rather buy used and help us both out then spend a grand to get these books new. Anyone able to help? Thanks! |
