Hang in there boys...with all these storms, we'll be bangin' & hummin' soon enough. I've got a couple of months of work ready to go in April. Now's the time to get yourself out there and get a head start.

Those companies with the marketing around here are busy, but at a cost (hundreds of thousands a year in advertising).

There'll be plenty of work in two weeks. Enjoy your down time. All the work that didn't get done last year (which was the slowest year ever according to my suppliers) will be done this year.

Re: How Is Work Around The Country?Slow In Ct

Its been slow here for afew years now,
from 94 to 2005 better than 80% of my work was new construction,
from 2006 to today its almost flip flopped with re roofs leading the way.

I'm not complaining about having more re roofs,
just saying its odd compared to what i'm use to.

Russo builders have 4 contracts sold thus far.
Delucia has 1.
Restle has 0 last we spoke.
Koch has 3, all are additions rather than homes, but do include re roofing exsisting.
Koniowsky has 1.

Those numbers should be triple that at this time of year and the list would normaly include 3 other contractors.

I'm in the same boat or should I say fish house! Just got back from the fifth Lake of the Woods fishing trip last night to find several voice mails from home owners wondering when I'm going to start their roof. This past Winter did three times more work than the Winter before.

For this Spring have a few huge tear offs to do from the 06 hail storm, a dozen from the 07 hail storm and so far this year have landed another half dozen from the 07 hail storm. Plus half a dozen or more waiting for adjusters. Amazingly enough even have some out of pocket tear offs to do!

Should have work through the middle of Summer for sure. The area near my wifes work got hit with hail last Fall and those leads are now starting to come in.

Hang in there Rooferboy,
The Northwest part of the state seems to be pretty steady right now.

The calls are coming in from HO's that want to refinance for improvements to existing homes. The bank told me yesterday that the mortgage rates should be dropping pretty quick. The short term and lines of credit have already dropped.
Jump on every lead and line em up with down payments so they can't pull the rug out from under you.

Re: How Is Work Around The Country?Slow In Ct

I also used to do very few tear offs with mostly new roofs. In the past ten years averaged only 5-8 tear offs a year and 40-60 new roofs. In 06 things changed in favor of the tear offs and in 07 it was more like 3-5 new roofs and 60-70 tear offs, of which only 3 were not insurance. Can't complain though doing insurance tear offs mainly. Just got approved for $408 a square for a 26sq 4/12 two layer tear off. Although not a fan of tearing off two layers of shingles for decent money it's worth it.

One of my builders who used to build 20-50 homes a year is now doing more additions than new homes. For example on Monday going to start a 35sq addition on a 70sq house. Tried to convince the home owner to call the adjuster due to wind and hail damage but didn't want to make the call and try to get everything done at one time. Now gonna have to put 3 tab XT30's on to try to match the 10 year old Sealdon 25's. You would think with $78K a month tax free they would call the agent or even just write a check.

Things are moving along nicely here in west TN.Everytime I feel I might be heading for trouble, another storm comes thru.Either blows them off or makes 'em leak.

I've noticed that we have lost alot of "contractors" here lately.Been getting asked alot if I could use some help.Lol,I don't.
