My old neighbor roofed his house this way. A little hail fixed that problem!!! After the adjuster told the home owner the previous roofer did a horrible job on the roof installation he figured he wasn't going to be doing the roof again.

He nailed between the lines but then ran his shingles on top of that line. You could see just about every nail he put into the roof.

The guy who lived in that house before him was even smarter. One day while cleaning out the gutters he fell off the house roof onto the garage roof. The fire department got him down and luckily he was not seriously injured. Believe it or not he used to ask me if I could use him roofing after it happened.

Tear them off, the arc's or going to delaminate over time and leak. Do the h/os a favor fix it right, so the roof don't leak in 5 to 10 years.
We had to redo one of those high school projects where the kids did the same thing. I think reading was not part of the coarse.
Good luck. Shingles are cheaper then NEW inso, ceilings, floors, plywood.

NOT ONLY THAT!

We get instructions in Spanish HERE!

Geez man.

I did some volunteer work for Habitat For Humanity once.

I put my crew there at my personal expense to shingle in a job before some storms.

When I went up, the sheathing was nailed in at 2' on center!

I had to renail the sheathing before I could even shingle. Then, I went back to shingle the roof by myself with one of their volunteers who never actually got "on" the roof (they just brought me the materials to the eave where there was a pump jack set up that was more rickety than Paula Abdul on muscle relaxers!).

I didn't blame the volunteers who took out their time to do the actual work,
but whoever it was that was leading them.

I guess Joe should've had an "inspector" check this job, oh, what's that?

Nevermind.

Who was running the job?

Yep.

Mexico is prone to severe tropical storms, hurricanes, etc...that roof is going to float away like the house in The Wizard of Oz.

It needs to be redone again.

Either that, or save up a lot of money for the interior damage that's going to occur with the first storm.

Know what time it is?

Ok, I had enough fun...seriously, there's no getting around it.

I suggest re-shingling right over the existing shingles and having the entire group read the instructions.

Here's the best part...you can teach these men how to "do it right" and give them practice on their newly acquired skill (something they can apply in getting their lives back together).

Honestly...good luck.
