Help With A Chimney

Hey guys. I have been getting a lot of calls about installing chimney caps. I have a roofer that has been doing them, but i really don't want what it will correct besides letting debris in. Does the chimney cap serve any purpose? What is the going rate for labor and install? I know that roofing prices range from area to area, but just give me a general idea. My guy has a $50 fee for getting on the roof and works very economically. If i ever had to use a company i just want to know how much you roofing pros are charging for this. Thanks in advance. I am a GC who is afraid of heights.
