Flat Roof, Torch Roof Question

as i said earlier we have 60 sq of regular pitch roof and 10 sq of a flat/torch roof. is the install any more difficult on a flat torch roof? my installer seems to charge more for a flat for some reason. is the material more,what kind of material?

Material is more and the tools and experience to install is greater. I have NO idea concerning the Local Pricing. I have not touched a Roof since I was in Atlanta!

I have ALWAYS used Firestone Granulated. If not granulated you need to Aluminum Coat one-month later. Then sell them a Service/Repaint Contract.

Protrusions are what make the Flat Install pricier. Stink Pipes, Vents, Skylites..........All of these things need be wrapped in a VERY particular and time consuming manner.

I would use TPO or even base and cap before I would do a torch down.

Whats kinda odd is home depot now sells torch down scary

YES, torchdown requires a different skill set than regular roofing, also the risk and liability associated with torchdown is much greater, AS IN , keep the hose handy. G

As Genecarp said the Liability issue is huge and there is not many insurance companies out there that will insure torch down roofing. That may have something to do with why it is more expensive. I would use Duro-Last

he charges more because the application takes a bit longer and is a bit more involved process...
