Favorite Torch Down Material

What is your favorite torch down material right now?

Now i am using Certainteed, GAF and Polyglass.

I am not totally happy with any of them right now but i use them.

Which torch down material do you like?

Which product do you think bleeds the easiest?

Every year my opinion seems to change on this.
These products seem to be only as good as their last batch.

Re: Favorite Torch Down Material

I learned on Firestone, almost all smooth. When I hired a 60+ year old ex-union roofer to be an estimator for me he pushed GAF granulated alot so we used that almost exclusively for a few years. Since his passing, I have been pushing the Certainteed granulated. However we are phasing out torch as much as possible for single ply.

Re: Favorite Torch Down Material

I'm going to try to use all of everyones suggestions before i use another roll of the first three i mentioned.

I have been wanting to try firestone for a long time and one of my suppliers carrys it. The only reason i hadn't is because i was slightly turned off that it only came in white.
I'm not going to let that bother me now if the product is superior.

Also really want to try derbigum if i can get it. It's not the first time i've heard that recommendation.

Hadn't heard of stressply IV but i will definitly look into it.
Soprema? probably not available to me but im going to try.

I'll ship it in from the ends of the earth and pay whatever if its a better product.

More feedback and opinions please!!!!!

Re: Favorite Torch Down Material

The only readily available flat torch down (one supplier in my area has it) is the GAF Rubberiod. We've always used the granulated product but recently on my balcony we used smooth surface and it turned out ok. For a while there the GAF Rubberiod was garbage just like there shingles.

Re: Favorite Torch Down Material

Like grumpy said, it is time to go single-ply. Torch down is so 1980's...

Besides, you can sell single ply for more $$$ and it is simpler to install and less leaks - especially for hot-air welded systems.
