Easiest Way To Check License & Insurance?
Hey guys,
My roofing company may be partnering up with some other roofing contractors. What is the easiest way I can check that they are licensed & insured? What should I request from them? Insurance #'s? License ID #'s? Background check? How do we go about checking this stuff out? Thanks! eagle |

Get listed as additional insured on the Insurance Certificates and check with the State Department of Professional Regulation for the Licenses.
For background checks, are you looking at business complaints, and if so, then check with the BBB, but if for criminal histories, then you have to pay a service to run that check. Ed

In NM you could check licensing on-line. His insurance company can/will send you a certificate of insurance naming you as additional insured.

Thanks guys.
How can I just check to see if they are in fact insured? Should I just ask for their insurance number and provider, and then just call the insurance company? Or is there any easier way to verify that they are in fact insured? Can I check their insurance online? |

Re: Easiest Way To Check License & Insurance?
I receive updated certs automatically from subs that I have been using for a long time. For newer subs...they have to supply the cert, then I call to verify (I try to verify every month and track it in quickbooks).
It would be pretty cool if there was a website to do it. |

Ask them for a certificate of insurance listing you as additional insured then call their insurance agent to verify they are insured for roofing activities.
Get a copy of any necessary licenses and call the numbers or websites listed on the licenses to ensure they are true and not revoked. |
