Door Hangers

How do you guys feel about door hangers? I recall seeing on here somewhere that some of you use them. I will be giving them a try tomorrow (the CertainTeed ones) and plan on something like 200 around a house we are roofing.
Any feedback on the return that can be expected?

Re: Door Hangers

We set up a system. Whenever we started a job we put a sign in the yard and hung door hangers 10 houses down on either side of the house and across the street from the home. So, 40 door hangers total per job.

It helps reinforce your name. They see work is being done and that peeks interest. Then a door hanger with a coupon on it helps push them over the edge to give you a call.

Overall, worked ok... not great but its cheap.

Re: Door Hangers

200 hundred really is not a bid enough test market. If your trying to stir up work right now I would try around 2500-5000 door hangers. I must say if you made it a habit to hand out 200 door hangers on every job & had a yard sign, it would definitly stir up work in the long run

Re: Door Hangers

I was planning on 200 around each neighborhood we are in...
Four houses this week x 200...about 800 this week.
Two houses next week x 200 400 next week
So it will take me about one month to get around 2500 out. We actually have quite a bit in the pipeline, so it's not so much instant work I am after but more to start getting our name out. These neighborhoods are great...20 years old and people are just starting to notice their roofs!

Re: Door Hangers

I just had 1500 put out by a hanging company. 3 calls. 1 to complain. 1 is a job, the 3rd I go see this week. The complaint came in about 3 hours after they were put out. The job I landed called the next day and the 3rd called 2 weeks later.

Re: Door Hangers

I will reiterate what everyone else has said. Doorhangers are great for us in Phoenix. I do however take it a step further. I send the salesperson back out when the job is in production. That salesperson then hangs the doorhangers and introduces our company to the neighbors personally when he knocks on all of the doors. Usually 10 in each direction. I average at least one to two jobs per this event.

Thats a good idea Nathan, saturate the job site and the surrounding area with your name and info. I think i'm going to try that.

Re: Door Hangers

I always liked GAF Smartmail when I was doing lots of residential. For about 50 bucks, you submit the address of the house youre doing, and they mail a nice card with postage paid reply form to the nearest 100 homes. I always got about 5% return, much higher than your average return on mailings.

I would have to pay for the hangars, and someone to hang them was my line of thought.
