Closed Valley 12" Past Centerline

Closed Valley 12" Past Centerline


I know most manufactures recomend the shingle 12" past centerline of the valley, do you think this is excessive? Isnt at least 6" past good enough?

Can't really call it excessive, I usually shoot toward 12" myself, but thats just me.

I shoot for 12" too Snapper, 10 anyway. I'm not gonna second guess the industry standard...

No Sir! Never did, never will. Western cut, and like was posted after my previous, 10 is about as shallow as I'll go on the underlay since the nailing line of the shingle is actually at 12 (give or take a little) when the top is underlayed at 10.
