Re: Which Is Better, Bostitch Or Hitachi? (again)

I still don't get it.

Hit a job and borrowed the in-house Hitachi gun until my RN46's arrived.

It was the same deal...wheezing, asthmatic, a female dog to load and
the balance is no where near as nice as the 1/2 lb lighter Bostitch RN46.

So, why all the Hitachi love?

Because they last for a long time?
A poorly trained roofer can come to work everyday for 20 years,
he's still going to suck too!

I'm not impressed. It's it and that's that. The Bostitch is THE BOSS.

I think the only gun that might be able to touch it now is
the Bosch and basically because of it's loading ability.

Besides, it was Bostitch that actually invented the coil roofing nailer back in '65!

Roofing stuff begins at 04:00 minute mark in this video...cap stapler, roofing nailer and the ProzeHoze which I can attest to that it does what it says...it never tangles or kinks.

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

(...and no, I don't work for Bostitch. I just really appreciate a great company!)

I think it is all a matter of opinion. you can sit here all day and argue which one is better. but in the end we are still going with our opinion on which gun is better. I've owned both a hitachi and a bostitch and my personally I liked my bostitch better. to me it was lighter had few jambs and misfires. but like i said its all a matter of opinion

I have two Bostich guns and they take a beating. I am pretty hard on tools and they keep running. THe few roof contractors that i know all run Bostich. I can't compare to Hitachi i have never used one...:

Re: Which Is Better, Bostitch Or Hitachi? (again)

I was always in love with my Bostitch. Although after a good year it started to jam up all the time. So I said F it. I bought a Hitachi and have been using those ever since. I like the way the bostitch shoots and the way it loads easily. But the hitachi hardly ever jams up. I hate having to stop and un-jam the hammer of the gun!!!

How do you find it compared to your Boss?

How does it load, with single magazine like the RN46 or two-stage (like all the others)?
It is a two part load but, not as awkward as the others (passlode, hitachi, PC, or the rest) Mine says made in japan on it. I have had my old bostitch for 10 years, never had a problem with it. I bought the Max and 5 boxes of nails from some old guy that stopped by where I was working, for 125 bucks. I like the way the Max drives it vs. bostitch. I really can't pick a favortie between the two though.

been using Max for years now. Won't use anything else. My only complaint is they stopped making the SuperRoofer and I'm nervous to try the new model, it looks very wimpy. The four max I still have are still going strong so I hope I don't have to find out too soon.

I bought a Hitachi coil last week and haven't used it yet but I'm returning it soon because a tool place has the Max on sale.

I'm not fully pleased with my hitachi siding nailer, so that's why I'm returning the framer and getting the Max

I use Hitachi and Milwaukee.Milwaukees are very smooth operating and rugged, never had a problem in just about 3 years.Bostich went downhill IMO,The ridgerunners were bulletproof.I just never had any luck with the new ones, maybe I just got lemons.

Actually, Max used to manufacture Bostitch's first roofing guns in Japan.
They are great guns. I'd love to try one out. You got it for $125? that's a gift.

Not to say that Hitachi is no good, but I've been hearing something that I've never heard before about them...that they are beginning to have quality issues.

I don't know if it's because they've switched production to a different place (Japan VS China) or what, but as it happened with Bostitch when it changed production from Japan to China, quality dropped.

Right now, Max seems to be the one who's coming up with consistently better products.

John! What's up brother!

There was a bad run of RN46's that had glitches for a while,
but that got worked out.

Stopped by a pawnshop the other day got to looking through the tools. They had an old ridge runner in pretty decent shape on the shelf. the only thing wrong with it was it didnt have the connector piece for the air hose. and it was even better because i got it for 25 bucks!

I think the mods should lock any more stupid threads of this topic. We have only covered it like 300 times now.

Not the new Hitachi Gun VS Bostitch's current standard bearer...the RN46.
That has yet to be determined.

And no one is forcing anyone to read or to post in any of these threads.

It shouldn't take a moderator to lock anyone out of a thread they don't like
all they have to do is simply "not" click on the thread they don't want to read!

Myself, I'm a Hitachi fan. My employee's - bostitch.
But I often pull up to the site and catch one of them with my Hitachi in their hands because the Bostich has been jamming.

I own a Dewalt, Bostich, and a Hitachi and have had several issues with the Dewalt and the Bostich. The Hitachi has been the best nail gun I have used thus far. You just have to use the gunb that feels most comfortable in your hand.

One thing about Boss's...they can get finicky with nails.
Cheap nails will jam in them.
Hitachi work great with any nails I've heard.

Personally, I try to use only Bostitch nails when I can buy them or any other brand name manufacturer. I've only found a $5./box difference at most on the boxes and to me it's worth the extra loot to have a great nail.

I'll try to stock up on them when I come across them.
When I was in NY (Westchester), it was hard to get them.
Now that I'm in WV, their easy to come by.
