Best Looking Roof For This House???
I would like opinions on an apprpriate roof to compliment my french country styled home. I have Certainteed Independance now and like most others, they have failed horribly and prematurely. My considerations include OC -Berkshire, GAF/Elk -Camelot,Grand Sequoia,Grand Canyon. Also considering Certainteed -Presidential, Carriage House,Centennial Slate and Landmark TL.
What is considered the best values of these choices?? Application struggles?? Thanks! |

Re: Best Looking Roof For This House???
Hi John,
Personally, I think that the heavier laminates would be too heavy in design (not weight) for that particular style of house. I think that the CertainTeed Carriage House Shangles would be the best there especially since they mimic the detail above the windows in style and they are definately a step up above standard laminated shingles without being too much for the eye. Plus, the go on easy. Best value? The Landmarks by far...comparable life, but much less. With that color? I think either the red or light brown colors would look too or even a nice slate gray (though slate color might be out of character for the house). Just my opinion though. http://www.certainteed.com/NR/rdonly...riageHsBro.pdf

Re: Best Looking Roof For This House???
I thought carriage house myself right away. Only if you want an upgraded shingle. The Landmark 30 would look good also.
I agree, anything too thick might not look as good, but you will have a good shingle. |

Re: Best Looking Roof For This House???
I'd sell Tamko Heritage 30s in Evergreen as the best looking bang for the buck ...
but we can go up from there. ![]() That roof needs better ventilation. green on yellow looks nice. Last edited by Alan Hughes; 03-28-2008 at 01:54 AM. |
