Base and Cap Sheet Install Temp

How warm does it need to be for Base and Cap Sheet to be installed properly. Label says 50 Degrees, Im dying to get it on, although the days seem to only hit 40 at noon

If its with hot or torch down 40 and sunnys ok. If its peel and seal or cold adhesive a little warmer would be nice. Especially if its a light color sheet.

peel and seal. over a sun room, is there a big difference going white vs black? is the temperature difference that great, does one tend to last longer?

The times we install peel and stick less than say 60 degrees out, we use either a heat gun or a torch to warm it slightly and it does very well. Be very careful, you only want to WARM it, not get it hot. 80 pound roller behind it is a must for a proper job. It doesn't take much heat to get it to adhere very nicely, but it also doesn't take much more than that to burn it too.

There will be no flashings on this set up, it ties into the house under an eave. The rolls are attached to the drip edge with glue

When putting it down black will heat up on a sunny day and stick better.
A white roof will be significantly cooler on hot sunny days than a darker roof.
And in turn should last a bit longer.

In everyone's opinion (those that have used the SA products), do you think that these products are viable alternatives to heated modified bitumen products?

There is a lot of technolgy with adhesives. Example: ( a type of silly putty for adhering tiles on the space shuttle ) Another example:, 'Grace Ice and water Shield' , Just change the surface to be UV resistant and there you have it.
I have a friend who manages an older commercial roofing company where I am at and he says there pretty good, but I take what he says with a grain of salt, I have caught him in his own BS before.

I saw on the TV the other night where in the ancient far east ( over 2000 years ago ) they used bitumen for adhering bricks together

Me, I have not used any SA but I try to keep an open mind.

I would never use peel and stick on a completely flat surface, there must IMO be a good run-off(1 1/2-2/12 pitch min) and then still heat the seams

Yeah, the only products I think I would use on a truly flat roof would be CTP or polyurea.
