Is there a way I can have a dehumidistat or a timer added on to my existing attic exhaut fan so it will kick on in the winter also?

Re: Attic Exhaust Fan??-dehumidistat
I think they run around 50-60 bucks? not sure. How old is the fan? If its more than 5 years old you might consider a new fan with a humidistate built in for about 120 bucks. Say aren't you the same guy who asked a ridge vent question yesterday?

Re: Attic Exhaust Fan??-dehumidistat
You can use a line voltage thermostat, so when the temp. gets above your setpoint in your attic it will come on, just take 115 hot wire off your exhaust fan, put it on one side of the stat, run a wire off that to the fan, and set your stat to what you want it to turn on at. You want a stat that makes on a rise in temp. Basically when you turn it up it will go off. Example when you set stat from 70 to 80 it will go off because attic temp isnt 80 yet.
You can also get a timer with 3 pins, but you will only need 2 for your basic cause, you just screw the pin into the hole at the time you want it to come on, then adjust the middle dial for how ever many hours, and if the max hours that can be used is 12 hours then use the second pin 12 hours later to make it run for 24 hours, you can adjust as you want it though |
