I tried something new that worked out great for me, after the sunroom wicking problem.

While the Zip plywood is still stacked and banded, I sprayed the edges with aerosol spray adhesive. It worked out nice. Now I do that with all my plywood that might be exposed to rain for any length of time.

I agree. Papering from top down would shed water INTO the house rather than away.

The top was exposed fir post and pine liner - I only papered that because it wasn't Zip Wall plywood. And it was an inch past the lower section. (Lower span 16'-0" - add-on sunroom span 16'-2") All kinds of fun to make that work out right.

Whenever you get to "do" a Lindal Cedar Home, most of the lumber is provided in the package.
The lower space was NIC in their package so Zip wall was used.

So far I have not Tyvek'd over Zip Wall stuff. Like the garage I am adding to. The existing wall got the wrap - the upper is good to go. I just used the Zip tape to tape along the top edge of the Tyvek to keep any condensed moisture from getting behind the wrap.

Looks good loneframer. First time I've seen this stuff. Can't find anything about pricing though.
How does it compare to 1/2" osb + 15# felt?

This stuff is 5/8 thick and weighs a little more than 3/4 CDX, I would say. It does remain flat, but edges swell if left to the weather.

If you expect rain, I'd wrap the exposed edge for insurance.

Just slightly over a 3/12. Owner wants it shingled. Not my deal.

In this case, they are probably doing 2 layers of #30 felt and shingles, due to the low pitch.

I was told this was around 16 dollars a sheet, but don't know the cost of tape. One nice thing about this stuff is when it's wet, it almost seems to give better traction, but not the tape.

BTW,
That tape isn't quite as straight as the pics lead you to believe.
I was going to commend you on the tape job. Mine looked like I had a few to many

10-4

I have worked on an 8:12 zip roof in the rain doing fascia. It does feel grippier (until you hit the tape)

so it's at least double the cost of osb and tyvek, what's the advantage over tyvek?

So did you put felt over this stuff for a shingle application with a 3:12? Or do you trust it that much

The 5/8" roof sheathing is just slightly lighter than 5/8" Type X sheetrock.
I have pushed my share of each up the side of this building.

Remind me not to make you mad. You must be #1 way younger than me,#2 way stronger. One sheet by hand up that ladder and it would be lights out for me.

actually, the sheets got pumped up to the lower roof, then to the white buildings roof, then to the higher white buildings roof, across the roof to the brick building, then up to the pic and onto the roof. 4 guys made it easy.
BTW, I'm not that young and not nearly as strong as I was 20 years ago.

I know how you feel. Yesterday, I soundly whipped one of my younger guys on sheathing a 10/12 pitch roof. Today I am feeling it. Whipped him good though!

What feels good today, will surely be paid for tomorrow. I pushed 26 sheets of 5/8 rock up to the first roof, ran up the ladder to push them up to the third roof, then after we all carried them to the brick bulding, pushed them up to the pic. Two days later, I felt like I had a broken rib on the left side. Damn, I hate getting old.
