trim for sharp metal edge

We need something to keep little kids from cutting themselves on the cut edge of barn metal- it's the roofing of an overhang (just an interior creative thing) attached to the wall in a Children's Church hallway.

It's low enough a child might jump and cut themselves on it-

We thought about getting some metal bent in a 1"x1"x1" U to wrap the edge, but that would still leave some chance of getting cut (by the u channel)

The metal edge profile is about 1"

Is there a vinyl or plastic product?

stucco exp joint?

My partner considered buying some liquid rubber dip.....

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

McMaster-Carr in NJ has sponge/foam profiles that would do the job, if you can figure some way to keep them in place.

How about the foam water noodles used in swimming pools? I believe they're hollow so you should be able to slice them lengthwise and slip/glue them on.

By barn metal, do you mean typical corrugated tin? They manufacture (assumming that they still do) a wood strip , flat on the bottom, and profiled to the corrugations that is used as a closure strip. You could apply a bead of construction adhesive, apply a few clamps, then send a few short metal screws , or even pop rivets if you did not want to have scew heads visible, from the top. When it is set, recruit a few "volunteers" to dress the sharp edge of the tin with some wet/dry paper or small files.

I'd try an automotive style product, although I bet there is something made just for that purpose.

Take a look at this

Why not some kind of wood trim or if you want a rustic look some 2x2 around the edges like a picture frame. If you got something soft like Pine, you could even tap it into the metal a little so it sinks into the wood and looks even more finished.
