Re: Top-mount Vs. Face
hey loneframer, what are those simpson screws that you like to use for the diamond shaped hole in the bottom of top-mounts?
do you use the flaps? i had a mixed lot of hangers, half with flaps and half with aggressive looking fins that chew into the bottom flanger when you step the beam in. never use the flaps myself, seem to do more damage to the flange than anything. in hindsight, i could've packed everything out and went facemount. the kid mislead me to believe he had some wicked steel there, meanwhile they were all w12x35 and one was a w12x58. good sizes to pack out, had I known that's what he had. but I geared it up with the lumber yard so it's a hanging application and that's what the kid got |
