I want something simple and light as possible which I will use suspenders on anyway, does anybody make anything where you can move the pouches around the belt and pin them to a custom location? Maybe I missed the survey but how many of you wear the tool belts in the back instead of the front? I tried that for a few years but could never get used to it, besides i have a calcium deposit in my shoulder so i cant do the reach around anymore and have gone back to wearing them in front. Should i check out occidental leather?
I tell ya, A.W.,

Check out Oxy Leather. First specify your belt and suspenders.. They have lots of choices, from straight up leather, to sheep's wool lining added on, Ballistic Nylon belts with or without padding, All MANNER of suspension sytems, 3, 4, or 5 point. Then choose your bags. Based on what tools you want/need on hand, left or right handers bags, you are sure to find something that will work for you. Then you add in your preference of hammer loop, tape loop, high mount or low mount, tool caddy's and pocket protectors to keep that nice sharp chisel from cuttin through you nice new pockets, you name it, they have probably got it! My suggestion is to go here: www.bestbelt.com and order a catalog. Look through it and all the accessories they have and give Lynn a call and she will direct you to the nearest dealer and get you going. For something small and light, I would suggest a Pro-Trimmers(r) bag. Lots of room, but small in size.

By the way, Alex, don't blame the belt!!

Which Dead On rig?

I like their Mullet Buster.

If it came in another color, I'd like it more (I'm partial to earthtones; leathers, browns, greens, etc...).

Re: Tool Pouches

My little bro bought a dead on rig and put holes through it in less than a year. Converted him to oxy and they hardly look worn for the last six months. If youre tossing up between the deadons and the mullet buster (made by bucket boss not dead on) get the mullet buster it is way better built than the deadons. I personally wont waste my money on the lower brands of bags. They lose their shape way too fast for me. if i were to buy a cheaper set of bags i would probably look at those dewalts. They seem to hold up pretty good. But like i say now that i have some oxys i cant ever see going back.

Doesn't Dead On own Bucket Boss now...or vice versa?

I like the features of the Mullet Buster. Would I buy a set? Not.
My next set will be a Oxy 7 Bag Pro Framers.

The only other bags I'd buy would be Rooster Products Bags which are comparable to Oxys.

Oxy makes a bag for Rooster Products.

you would so pissed. I had a set of dewalts before I got my oxys. there wasn't a day I wasn't frustrated with them. stuff was always falling out, nails and hand tools. the knife holder is very poorly thought out.

with the oxys( the only high-end bags I have owned ), it seems like they were actually thought out buy hammer heads. As Borat would say " not so much" with the dewalts.

I guess they would be alright if you were the ground guy; myself, I feel free up high swinging around.

cheers,

Hsquared

Man, You are going to LOVE that bag! I am deciding on the 9550-LH Pro-Framer and the *New* B5625 "Green Builder" Belt set.

I like the Pro-framer, because the bags are fixed and won't slide around, but that Black " 5625LH set is awesome and has lots of storage!

Great choice and let us know how you like it when you get it! I want to especially know how it feels, and whether or not you are going to have to "break in" the leather.

Re: Tool Pouches

I spent 120$ on this craftman belt, I hate it. Granted its leather. No spot for my utility knife or snips, the pencil holders on in the pouch and tips always break. The pencil holders on the out side are to small and constantly lose them.

I'd hate to say it, but my first pouch, although it fell apart after six months, had the best layout, it was a "tuft wear" I believe, haven't seen one in 5 or 6 years that was like mine

my set in that picture is a seven bag and i love it. There are some small details that i would change but i love it. There is a slight break in because that belt is stiff the first day. but if you use some leather softner it will help.

I have this AWP tool bag made out of the same oil tanned leather that they make their belts from. I've had it for going on 9 years. It's the best. And I only paid $50. for it. Bags like these sell for over $150.

Their belts last me for 7+ years. Pricewise, their reasonable.

Their actually produced by Rooster Group who owns Rooster®, McGuire-Nicholas® and AWP® and they produce belts for Sears under the Craftsman name and Texas Hold-Ums.

They subcontracted Occidental to make a belt for them as well.

Re: Tool Pouches

the one thing I don't like about the awp bags is that I hate when they stack 3 bags on top of each other, so that they way out from your side. I just find it really cumbersome, particularly when I have to squeeze in some tight spot. that's what I like about my black rhino bags- they stick out from your hip half as much as most other bags.

I brought mine as seperate components for a total of $100., 2 pouches, a belt, a hammer loop and a knife sheath. I work only with one pouch on my left side when Roofing and both pouches when doing Carpentry work.

I got 5 years out of my first set before it was stolen and I'm on my 5th year with this set. Their on their way out now. But I'm never throwing them away. I'm going to keep them at my house in Puerto Rico.

This is their Electrician's Belt. They have some nice tools. Their framing hammers and roofing hatchets look nice. Canadian, right?

They are based out of Utah, and selling tools in Montana, so I'm pretty sure they are national. Kenyon Noble is the only place I've seen them for sale as well. For a while, I thought Kenyon was trying to create a house brand, like HD and Husky/Rigid.

Those are the ones I have. I just have the two main bags and the belt pad though, everything else is a mix and match. There are a few things I don't like about them, no pencil loops, no hammer loops on the bags, and not very many places to carry a tape. I got them because I could find ways around all the problems, and still have all the positives. The hammer loop thing worked out really well. These bags have a speed square slot between the two layers of bags, on both sides. I divided up the unused 2nd slot with a Chicago screw and a rope tie, which creates a hammer "sheath", and keeps the hammer from flopping around like it would when hanging from a loop. Also, these bags are so deep, you could stick your hammer in the main bag head first, and only 6" of the handle would stick out. I've seen people that carry their hammer that way with regular occidentals, and it always looks like the hammer is going to fall out, but you wouldn't have to worry about it with these.
