Re: Tool BeltQuote:
You can put them where ever you want like mentioned before. I most of the time have them slid up to where my suspenders are attached (this postion is not quite front and more to the side), sometimes on the sides, and when I am on a roof bending down a lot more to the rear. I have the leather Occidentals and have had them for many years now, Pro Framer. They are heavy, but are indestructible. When I bought my first tool belt many, many years ago it was leather one with the bags in the front permantly attached, and I hated them. Pain trying to climb a ladder, bending down, etc. The only synthetic bags I have are my trim tool belt and my electricians tool belts (one for general wiring and another for structured). Also have a leather electricians tool belt. |

Re: Tool Belt
I cant stand the synthetic tool belts. I find that as they get older they warp, and cause severe chafing on my outside thighs. They also dont last. Im extreemly hard on tool belts, i can get a leather tool belt to last me a couple years, but a synthetic one doesnt last me 6 months.

Re: Tool Belt
Haven't actually used a set yet, but my next set will be and Occidental Belt set.
What I've been using for the past 10 years? Any Oil Tanned Leather Rooster Product Belt. I bought a set that I pieced together (10 pocket Carpenter's Pouce, 8 pocket pouch, hammer loop, knife holster, belt) for a grand total of about a hundred bucks (back then). They can be picked up in any Home Depot or Sears (under the Craftsmen name). They come as McGuire/Nicholas Oil Tanned Series. They have a few different pouch options. I think of them as budget Occidentals, but don't be fooled, they last and are well designed. The only reason I got rid of my first set is because somebody got rid of them for me...they were stolen. My 2nd set is worn down to the bone. Time for a new set...Occidental, here I come. And as for me? Leather...always. It's so natural, it becomes instinctive. It becomes part of you. http://www.mcguire-nicholas.com http://bestbelt.com/ |

http://www.bestbelt.com/product/tool...-toolbelt.html http://www.bestbelt.com/product/tool...-toolbelt.html your best options for what youre talking about using it for. I love my oxys. the guys who tell you dead ons are nice havent ever owned a nice set of leathers before. my little bro wore out his dead ons in 6 months. Oxy 's will last you and will only get more comfortable as you go. Shapes to your body. |

Re: Tool Belt
I use the occidental beltless 6 bag framer in leather.
Its a good bag but the hammer holder strap on the back of the bag sucks and they tend to wear on your back with the weight. |

Re: Tool Belt
i have the oxy. 9500 stronghold adjustable framer. they have been holding strong for 4 years. the nylon has frayed in some spots, nothing more than expected. no holes or anything close for that matter. they stay confy when loaded down( heavy as ****). the right side tool pouch is bomber, tools sit tight eaven when i 'm swinging around in rafters. the left side good also, i do loose nails sometimes when i jump down off something, only out of the bottom pocket though. over all stuff reall stays put.
i also took off the hammer holder off the back. i didn't like the idea of falling on my back and having that metal thing stab me in the spine. it also made it to where you had to move the belt around when working on your back.i like my hammer on my side anyways. i would and will absolutely buy these bags again when the time comes. its nice to have bags where everything has it place. i am very hard on my bags. they either get droped or simi thrown down when they come off. i hope this helps, i have owned several other pairs of bags, no I am not sponsored by oxy. cheers, H&H Last edited by hell&highwater; 01-17-2008 at 06:14 PM. |
