Steel Framing Prices

I have been wood framing for about 30 years, but recently I was asked about steel framing. I have priced 6" steel framing at a local distributer with a price of $.78 /LF and track at $.77/LF. This seems like a high price. Are they in or out of the ball park at that price?

Re: Steel Framing Prices

What kind of distributor? Did you price it out with any drywall wholesalers? I've gotten better prices from them than lumber yards. It's been awhile since I bought any 6" but with steel prices right it seems kinda high. Just got
3 5/8" 20 ga. for 0.31/lf for a basement finish I'm doing.

Re: Steel Framing Prices

A month ago I paid .425 for 20 guage studs and .435 for track. Metal goes up and down every week. Look on the suppliers front desk and you'll probably see a sheet of paper from ex.(Dietrich metal framing Inc.) for the week(s) with the price increase. Thats around Omaha, NE area.
