Re: Remote Construction
When i was a kid we would build homes & docks in remote areas . We could rent a barge with a crane to move across the lake .
Most of the time we would just raft the lumber up , bind it real well with SS straps then cargo straps and just float the lumber to the house . most of the time the houses where 4 or 5 miles from the launch . A square block of lumber floats high in the water . Keep the ply wood and windows on top of the pile . Most of the time we left early in the AM before the wind came up . beach the lumber and get it out of the water fast . stack it on land and let it dry for a day . We started floating dock cradles from the house over to the work site. You could wait for the lake to freeze and just drive there. Once you get the material and tools to the job its just the same old thing. The boat ride to work in the rain / snow sucked bad . John |
