Re: Radius Jig For Cutting 2x Rafters
Board is up...we had to scrap out for them, but they were some of the neatest hanging crews we've worked with.

Re: Radius Jig For Cutting 2x Rafters
Beam decorations...slow going though. Lots of 'jack' work. I have to lift the LVL/roof, seperately from the main beam. The caps are solid oak wrapped mahogany, they're sweet

Re: Radius Jig For Cutting 2x Rafters
During layout, we found that the piers are off (considerably). So I did a complete mock up of the corner so we could evaluate and come up with a solution (there's a combination of reasons so no one is specifically at fault)....If things look a little off, it's because nothing is permanent. The final post is mahogany and hemlock....anyway, here's the basic idea.
Every column will have the same details. ![]() ![]()

Re: Radius Jig For Cutting 2x Rafters
The main attatchment for the beam ends is through the mahogany cap.....I was just tacking them and wasn't thinking....I ran a few 4" screws. Of course I stripped the heads
![]() ![]() Every week the HOer brings a load of used materials he wants to use....These are our future stair rails......HOer is having someone refinish them. Our designer is working closely with the HOer, so I'm confident the project will pull together!

Re: Radius Jig For Cutting 2x Rafters
Yeah....I AM enjoying it! Too bad we're running into problems, I'm excited to see the end result. Using all reclaimed materials supplied by the HOer has added to the challenge.
Between having a small inexperienced crew doing all the carpentry, keeping the job moving, changes, winter weather and the uniqueness of this build we're jumping around a lot! We just received the stained cedar shakes from our painter.....The material and final details for exterior trim, as well as the interior window trim, so we should be seeing some more progress.

Re: Radius Jig For Cutting 2x Rafters
How are you cutting your corners on the shingles? Might have a tricky trick for you. Works awsome on flaired, weaved corners.
