Asking questions is one thing, asking basic questions you should know if you are a licensed contractor is another.

If you don't know what you are doing with the header and it isn't on the plans, how did you bid the job?
Here in Washington, you can know as much about building as a retarded chimpanzee and still get your contractors license. All a license means is you are bonded and insured, it has nothing to do with how knowledgeable you are in construction. Depending on where you are of course, some states make you pass a test.

I've known a few people who had nothing more than some minor apprenticeship carpentry skills who went and got their contractors license.

To get a contractors license in Florida you have to pass an extensive 19 hour exam over the course of 2 days, and you have to have 4 years proven experience.

They don't just hand out licenses here.
