Anyway keeping it from going over is probably as much of a problem as getting it up there. Then securing it for wind until you get a couple of wall butted to it.

This system allows for long CONTROLLING pulls! Thusly decreasing the possibility of an over-pull!

That is what TOP mounted control/Anchoring ropes are for.

Re: How To Lift HUGE Wall?

I can see that you would be scared to lift such a wall, however, wall jacks would be my choice with my cat telehandler and maybe having acouple guys extra from a near by framing crew. I think I would have plenty of bracing materials handy. Take some pictures for us, sounds like a fun one.

I guess you could always have a helicoper help.....to much...I know...how cool would that be....

Speaking of choppers... They were doing some work on the electrical power poles one day and instead of using trucks or ladders they would fly up next to the pole and a guy would climb out and onto the top of the pole. Then he would fly back to another pole and pick up a dude and take him to another pole.

I've seen those dudes before malco... These dudes were getting onto the log style poles 10" diameter at most. Just a straight pole nothing to hook your safety line to. stepping out on top of the pole like we walk down the street. I had a video on my phone but I broke the mem card before I got it off I think.

Re: How To Lift HUGE Wall?

lotsa rope and pulleys, not to mention two or three pivot A frame masts would help to transfer the pull of a four wheeler or a crew to a lift. much like a jib on a crane. the base of the A frame pivot masts attached to the bottom of the wall.

just like the mast of this sailboat only make it an A frame so it does not collapse to the sides.

Re: How To Lift HUGE Wall?

How many of you would rent a crain or boom truck to lift this beast. Asuming you didnt own wall jacks or a fork lift of course...

That thought would not have ever crossed my mind. I would have built a scafolding and sticked it. To be honast I do own wall jacks and I still would have most likely sticked it.

Re: How To Lift HUGE Wall?

I would have framed on the ground and sheathed while standing. Or used my truck winch and a pulley in the tree to stand it (don't tell L&I)

A year ago last August we hired a crane to lift a gable wall. We have lifted the same wall (same plan) on other sites with our forklift, but couldn't get in there with this one. Its possible we could have, but I don't like to drive the machine with the boom straight up. It was about $400 total, but saves a lot of time adding the flyrafters, Tyvek, overhangs, and then it is easier to set the ridge later.

If I could, I would build as many huge walls as I could, then have the crane come out and lift them all. Even if I had to frame them on top of each other.

Same basic plan, but we used the machine to lift the walls

Is that blue sky in WA?
Must have been in July or August.

Some times I miss the big stuff. There is always a blue sky and 70 deg in my memories though.
