How To Fasten 1/2" Plywood To 14 Gauge Steel Studs

Got a call from a contractor I work for alot and they are building a mini storage building and need a quote to close it in, my question is what is the best way to fasten 1/2" plywood to 14 gauge steel studs? There is going to be approx. 350 sheets of plywood.

Check www.grabber.com they have plenty of fasteners for steel framing

14g is pretty heavy, get a few samples and see which one you like best. They have Hardi screws for steel framing which will work, but on 14g they might be slow. I have also used Simpson truck bed screws which are probably the fastest and also most expensive, I used them on 12g floor joists with 1 1/8 plywood.

There is a product on the market now that gets fired in with a nail gun but can be screwed out with a screw driver, Its a ballistic nail screw. They are available from UFO fasteners. You can check them out by searching ballistic nail screws on the net. The type of screw/nail you are looking for is the pow-r-drive. I tested them out on some 20 gauge studs worked well but found that the thicker the gauge the better holding power they have. they really speed up installation and have the advantage of being adjustable afterwards.

I think I saw a hilti nail for a power nailer that is ringed or shanked for grip.....A tek gun and self drillers would be my choice.
