Re: Hey Jersey Guys.

Hey Joe,
I imagine you probably frame your corners Calif. style. Have you ever used stud, 3 random blocks, stud? I think the Calif. corners are quicker, but I think the other way with the blocks do a better corner. Also for a while back in the 80's we would butt all top plates and use a steel plate to put over the joints ( sort of like a truss plate, it had all the prongs on it that you hammered into plates) ever use these?

Jmic,

I've used the California corners before and I don't like them, especially on 9' and 10' walls. I always use a 4 stud solid outside corner and a 2 stud with blocks in between for the inside wall corners.

It's not taylor ham- it's "pork roll"- as in "pork roll, egg and cheese, with salt, pepper, and ketchup".

When I was living in Vegas and my girlfriend (now my wife) and I came back to NJ for a visit, I got up on Sunday morning and told her we had to go get some pork roll, egg and cheese sandwiches (which don't exist out West). What I hadn't realized was that in the few years since I'd been back, most delis now weren't open on Sundays. We drove around for nearly an hour, the whole time listening to her complain about "why do we have to keep loking for this damned sandwich? Why can't we just eat at Denny's or someplace?" Well, I finally found a place, and once she had a PR, E & C, she understood exactly why I was willing to look so hard for it.

Ahh....it's great to be back in Jersey- if for nothing else, for the pork roll....lol.

Bob,

I know a guy who lives in Freehold and he says "Pork Roll". I've never heard anyone say that until I met him. I've always said "Taylor Ham Egg and Cheese".

You have way down the shore guys.....

Re: Hey Jersey Guys.

Though I've been in Georgia for 10 years now (and it's still almost imposible to get a good HOAGIE, a good pizza and scrapple) recently we've been able to get Taylor Pork Roll. My kids that were born here in the South now love Pork roll.
The biggest thing I miss about living in South Jersey is the sandwiches ( the bread just isn't the same here) and I do miss WAWA !
