Help With - Inside Corner Trim For Vertical Cedar Siding

For typical horizontal siding I put a 1x1 or 2x2 in the corner first and then butt the siding into it. But on this job, I have the fortune of using cedar channel in the vertical direction. Any suggestions? I haven't used vertical cedar since 1989 and I was just a lumber toter back then.

I am thinking that I can rip the lips off and butt one in tight to the other in the inside corner, and then rip a 3/4" x 3/4" piece to install over the vertical length of the seam.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. Mike

Re: Help With - Inside Corner Trim For Vertical Cedar Siding

I did some cedar channel about 2 years ago on a addition. I had to match a 22.5 degree outside corner first before I could tackle the corner. I had some pictures of it on here awhile go. I ripped the 22.5 degree bevel and matched existing cut. I continued putting up pieces till I came to the corner. Measured the width and ripped a inside 22.5 degree bevel. The cuts I thought came out sweet but because of the rain I still caulked it as it was being painted anyway.

Because there wasn't a option of corner trim all the outside and inside cuts were beveled.

you wouldn't need to put a 1x1 over it unless you aren't using a table saw. I just did 2 condos with vertical siding and didn't need inside corners or outside corners. What you do have to watch out for is the layout of your vertical lines near any object vertical, meaning doors and windows and the like.

Are they painting? staining? or leaving it?

I miss red cedar

lol, I just noticed, they still have christmas lights up!

Thanks for the quick replies. I am using a table saw...so I will incorporate biscuits and glue and finish nails.

I just thought all inside corners were trimmed. I need to get out with cedar more.

PS

The cedar sawdust pile smells GREAT!!!
