Question

FROG Joist Wieght Capabilities

I have someone who wants to place a temporary winter koi pond in the FROG over their garage. The water wieght is a concern of mine. How can I determine the load capasity of the 2x6 joist. They are 16 on center. I may have the option of placing the pond along side the load bearing wall to aid in support. The pond we are looking at could be @1800 pounds. Thanks for your help.
Brian

Re: FROG Joist Wieght Capabilities

nobody even considers using a 2x6 in a garage as a joists unless it is under 12ft. long.!!!! definately sounds like if your in the city limits you want an engineers opinion or at least an architects... to co sign on it~
