What the heck are you framing? A restaraunt?? Metal partition walls in an office building? Ya gonna do a roof? That all matters right?

Bid it for what you need to cover overhead, pay yourself, and have a profit. Don't worry about other's prices.

Re: Framing Price In Nh/commercial

I don't understand how knowing what others might charge affects what you would charge, except in two scenarios; either (A) you find out everyone else is charging a lot more than you, and you can then safely raise your "going rate," or (B) you find out everyone else is a lot less than you, and you must lower your price to remain competitive. Since you have indicated that you're getting underbid, it seems that you already know what the "going rate" is (less than yours) and need to lower your expectations.

Advice already given is correct, calculate what you need and bid it. Make sure your number is tight, as low as you can safely go without losing your shirt. At least try this on one job-- the absolute rock-bottom price you can give-- and see what happens. If you're still getting beat, there may be a problem with your business model, or things are just so bad in your area that making even a small profit isn't possible right now. But since you said commercial is booming there, the former would be more likely.

Good luck!

A new twist on these things....very funny....

Kind of like watching a newsperson doing a stand up report from an accident scene, and someone walks up and asks directions....

How I wish I could pose as a newbie and post here....
