Fixing Termite Damage

I am needing some help and questions answered. I started replacing some windows in a sun room yesterday. The old ones came out fine. Started to get new vinyl windows ready to put back in and saw something as I inspected the framework. TERMITE DAMAGE. Nothing big but enough to compromise the integrity of the framework and its job in supporting. Sooooooo.... My questions are 1. Is sistering the studs both king and common ( both have damage) enough. 2. What should be done about the bottom, sole plate. The sole plat has two damaged areas. One section is in 8-12 in. long and right in between two windows, king to king stud, extensive damage. The other area is about 1-1 1/2 ft long, and not to badly damaged. King stud on one side, common stud on other. To repair/replace the sole plates do I have to use jacks to support structure??? Or what needs to be done. Any help/advice is appreciated.

Re: Fixing Termite Damage

Need more info. How big is the window? Is there a second story? Most of the time the rim joist is enough to temporarly support the upper load of a 2nd story wall spreading the roof load.. I have taken out and moved windows leaving 4-5 foot voids till it was promptly framed in.

Ultimately you are going to want to check what kind of load that header is really bearing.

Thanks for the response, and I apologize that I didn't give more info. The windows are all 4x4. Single story, flat roof, outside wall. Soooooooo, is sistering OK, and what should be done about the bottom plates. Thanks for the help.

Re: Fixing Termite Damage

Bottom plate came probably be left in unless a stud is over the sole plate. If the jacks are not damage from the termites then sistering should be ok. I would think.
