Favorite Gun?

What's everyone's favorite nail gun? What features do you like the most? I'm looking for a good one that's easily adjustable and doesn't jam. Any suggestions?

Re: Favorite Gun?

Do a search. It's been discussed here many times.

Myself, I use pretty much all Senco.
except for two Bostitch roofers and a Hitachi siding nailer.

Re: Favorite Gun?

Senco's pretty nice. I've fallen in love with the newer clipped head Hitachi though. If they'd put a rafter hook on it, it'd be perfect!

Don't care for Bostitch or Ridgid (Had an N80, have a Ridgid)

Do use clipped heads on sheathing? Some jurisidictions won't allow that.

I would never buy a clipped head nailer. I prefer the full head for holding power.

Re: Favorite Gun?

I don't have a huge preference; We mostly do framing in conjunction with a deck, so the amount of sheething I do is quite limited.
I'll have to keep my ears open though in case any local townships want the full heads- I'll use the Ridgid for them.

Thanks for the info.

Can't beat the hitachi clipped head nailer. The new ones can fire a wide array of different brands of nails unlike the old ones. I've been told you can get the rafter hooks for them but where is the question. I've not had any luck finding them.

I checked their website and could not find anything but the cordless gas powered that had a rafter clip. Not offered as an accy., best i can tell. Contact them, see what they say.

Re: Favorite Gun?

I did contact them. I was told, and I kid you not, "wow, what a great idea!"

This was before the gas powered gun came out. I was just kinda stunned that a company could put together such an awesome gun, and miss something so obvious...

Re: Favorite Gun?

Difference in culture I think. As I understand it, stick-framing in Japan for residence is uncommon. What is more common is factory-built modular.

I have heard of folks buying circular saw rafter hooks and attaching them by drilling an extra hole in the magazine to allow the clip to be bolted to it.

Re: Favorite Gun?

I've tried Senco framepro, paslode, hitatchi, and Bostitch.Went to Max air,and would never have anything but Max now.I have 6 Framing guns,2 Roofing guns, and a 15 Ga. angled finish nailer.Hands down best gun out there.Always rates #1 in tests in trade journals.
You can get a rafter hook for your hitachi from Pairis Industries, along with lots of other neat framing tools. Not sure of the web address but they call it a skyhook.
