Yes, you have the major axis and the minor axis measured from the center of the pencil. Then It will draw the ellipse.

What do you want Tom? You want instructions on how to make the jig? Pc of cake. Take a board, make it a square. Put two dadoes in the center of the board one from one edge and one from the other. You can keep is square if you'd like, I find that rounding the inside corners makes it easier to use and you don't have any interference with the jig, especially if you are doing ellipses at the smaller limit of your jig.
