Re: Efficent Framing.

Ok, that makes a little more sense. So you don't have to do it on single family homes in between levels right?

No, only on multi-family dwellings.

We built a custom 24" oc trailer rig to pre-set 24' of roof at a time. Makes for speed when guys are bracing out the roof on the ground.

Efficent Framing.-truss-20brace.jpg
I use this method also. Brace first truss to floor. Run about eight or ten or more trusses then diagonal braces.

Have any of you guy's done panelized homes ? Before the bust about 20% of our work was with a company called Wassau homes. The floor sections were about six feet wide and ran front to back. Exterior walls were sheathed, housewrap on and windows set. Interior walls would be lifted in strapped bundles. Set them by hand.

Regular truss system. They supplied simpson folding straps. Gables came sheathed off the truck then we would put on the pre made "barge's" (1x6 with 2x6 blocks in between the 1x6 and 2x6 fascia). Everything was numbered.

Wassau supplied the crane and let me tell ya this guy was good. He could set a second floor back wall within inches before needing signals. He would also set trusses with out a rope. Lift the truss, rest it against the front of the house (side to side) then up and in. Wish I had a vid of that.

Each house came with a set amount of crane hours. So it was 100 mph all day. Ninety percent of the time we were under hours. Sometimes we would go over an hour or two. Crane op. never complained though, one hand washed the other.

When the house was done the only way you could tell that it was'nt framed on site was the non staggered seams on the floor system. Our best time was eleven hours on a 2200 sq. ft. two story. Trusses set.

These cost 1.35 here, last time I checked we had gained 1/4'' in a 30' span using them.If you are a tight a$$ you can use duplex nails and pull them off as you sheet up to them and re-use them

Leave it to wallmaxx. I have to get out to Washington and spy on his jobsites from the treeline so I can steal his tricks.
