Barrel Vaulted Ceiling
Hi all, here is a couple of pictures of what me and my son have done today, barrel vaulted ceiling 19ft long 6ft 6in wide, shape is an ellipse as it had to be set height above floor and width. both ends have to be returned or hipped. I told the site manager it would be better done in metal, but he said he wanted it done in ply and roof laths. When the framing is finished, we will clad with 1/4 in flexable drywall, it then will be wet plastered.
Let me know if you like these postsor am I clogging up the system |

I did the same thing once in center beaded T&G pine. It looked awesome.

No, I love your posts. I really like it when I notice you've posted something new. I like to look at picture of your type of work. I seldom get to see that type of old school carpentry in my area.

Re: Barrel Vaulted Ceiling
Old school, you aint lying......
New school would have been metal. First time I have seen one this size framed out of wood. I'll agree with the guy who said good start.... Edit: There are so many things we do different, but considering you're 'over the pond' your codes may be a little lax. |

Looking Good.
Saw one like that at a Casino in Reno, had mirrors at both ends and was painted faux sky with clouds.

Re: Barrel Vaulted Ceiling
I always run my slats in between the plywood frames.
It takes longer but seems to hold up better.
