Occidental leather framers bags. 2 pouches hammer holster for the rigging axe, loop for the 16oz. fiberglass hammer. Use the trim hammer for prying pulling nails, catspaw ect. Dont like ruining the waffle on my axe.

Re: Arsenal

1 Pouch, left. 1 Drill Holster, right. Tape Pouch, dead center front. Hammer Loop, dead center back. Folding Razor Knife Pouch next to Tool Pouch.

I look like Batman!

Fortunately, my line of work does not require that I wear it daily.

F....in A framerman. I can put 5 vinyl coated sinkers in in 5 seconds. Won a lot of bets from guys that usually carry estwings that say its impossible. Its all about the balance.

Re: Arsenal

I like the Occidentals too. Pricey, but wear like iron. I dumped my lamb's wool lined suspender rig from them though, after it hung me up on a scaffolding one day.

I read something a while back in a trade mag that told a few grisly stories about what happens when you sling a hammer into a loop in the center of your back and you take a fall straight backward.
The hammer goes perpendicular to your back and is the first thing to hit the ground standing straight up and can crush your spine right out.

I don't know how much truth there is to this but ever since reading that, my framing hammer gets slung on the side just in case.

One of the stories in the article was of a guy who was paralyzed that way from a backward fall off a low porch. Got him just right.

Just an uplifting tale of the trades for a Sunday morning.

Going slightly off topic but I need to ask:
I use the Douglas framing hammers. They aren't cheap, but I like 'em.

What are the advantages of the rig axe?

Re: Arsenal

Bodger, its all about the balance, put a hammer in your left and the axe in your right, swing them both. The axe will feel lighter than a lighter weight hammer. I hardly ever use the axe part and never sharpen it. But the axe does come in handy sometimes. Chipping concrete slag thats in the way. Sometimes cleaning out a birdsmouth (and no im not a butcher before anyone says it). LOL

Occidental leather, framer on the left, trimmer on the right with a hook on the back..Usually with some suspenders...hate it when your rig pulls the ol' drawers down. We aint pushin crack

would you believe that where I live in Maine, pretty much everyone has never heard of a VC sinker, they're all commons.

And I completely agree, it's about balance. I use a 29 oz. Vaughan and it feels like 22. Everyone around me says that they don't like it, that the blade part is dangerous. My response is I'd hate to hit myself with any hammer.

I like it. Grizzly is the best description for having your spine cracked by the head of a framing hammer. Yeech!
