Advantage Pine Siding

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but I will throw it out there anyways.

Does anyone out there have experience with Advantage Pine preprimed siding? I'm pretty sure that it is a fingerjointed product. I've used a little of their trim and it looks great. I'm a little concerned with siding a large house with it.

The only other real wood options that we have here are redwood and cedar, which a priced much higher.

Thanks

Mark

Re: Advantage Pine Siding

Problem with pine is that it shrinks like a mofo, around here anyway. Keep 'er dry and get it painted asap.

Here is a link to the manufacturer.

It is a kiln dried preprimed finger jointed clear pine. The trim I have used is as straight and smooth as I have seen in any lumber. It is guaranteed for 20 years against rot and insect infestation.

Re: Advantage Pine Siding

It doesn't say really what kind of pine, but it doesn't look like white pine which is what I was indicating. Lodgepole pine is decent, straight. 20 yr warranty with pine? I didn't see anywhere that it was treated which would make more sense.

Re: Advantage Pine Siding

I can't find the literature, but I think that it is New Zealand Pine and is treated with a Borate substance.
