Re: 12x20 Shed Material Cost

I just added on an additional 8'x8' onto an existing 8'x12' tool shed.
Raised wood floor, 4x4 beams underneath. 2x4 framed w/Hardi siding. Window & double barn doors. Shingles woven into the existing roof. Materials on all of this was under $900, labor to build & paint was over $1200.
A prefab is certainly cheaper, but in more ways than one.

Re: 12x20 Shed Material Cost

I would guess anywhere form 500 to 5,000. But if you want a proposal for lumber I would have to charge you to design your shed then do a take off. Also my costs would be differnt then yours because I don't live anywhere close to you.

Re: 12x20 Shed Material Cost

Threads on pricing are frowned upon and this one is perilously close to being closed.

You can contact your local lumber yard for material take offs and pricing on lumber packages, but due to the commodity nature of lumber and regional variations in usage and codes, its impossible to answer this question with any authority.

Now seriously, you can't be in the trade if you're asking a question like that??

it's sort of like saying, " I need to buy some nails. How much will they cost?"

On the other hand, I build backyard buildings (sheds) and would be happy to build one for you, if you tell me the size, interior wall height, siding choice, how many and what size windows, size, quantity and placement of doors, roofing choice, etc, etc. there are many variables.

If you do a low bid deal, it will cost 5 g's now and 10 g's later. If you do a cost plus deal it will cost 10g's now and 5 g's later.

fester that needs to be updated as it obviously states 2009 acceptable labor rates. it may need to be adjusted to the new 2010 labor rates of fy fitty.
