Wrapping Laminate Beams

My brother has built this 3000sq/ft elaborate room addition. The exterior is log siding and the interior toung and grove with lots of laminate beams all over the place. We have been playing around with wrapping ideas. The only option we see is rough cut ply wood 45ing the joints. His wife does not like the look. Is there any premfg log wrapps or any other mfg wrap that are out there? He talked about finding a wood mill to cut some right from a tree but he would rather find an easier way with a prefab deal. Any web sites you all know of? Thanks.....yall.

Re: Wrapping Laminate Beams

A couple of years ago a builder that I do work for just had the stainer sand the laminate beam until it was clean and shoot it with lacquer. Apparently the home owner requested it.

Re: Wrapping Laminate Beams

I have seen them covered with just about every type of rough or smooth board imaginable. Just run it through a table saw and bam. you don't even have to 45 it although I think it looks better if you do. I have even seen people whack it with a chain and burn it to make it look older. I wouldn't use ply wood, cause I think it looks cheap. I like hard woods with a smooth finish cherry is whats in my house.
