Question

What's This?

I recently saw a good deal on a finish nailer in the supply store. Can anyone tell me if SENCO is a good brand to purchase or no?

Re: What's This?

Senco is an old established pro brand, but like most manufacturers, they make several levels of the same tool. Some models of their finish nailers for instance would be a great tool for a homeowner or occassional moderate duty user, but cannot handle the abuse of continous daily use. I recently saw a three piece (finish nailer, brad nailer, and finish stapler) kit at Home Depot for an unbelievable price. I knew this price was less than the cost of just a finish nailer alone, so I started looking at model numbers, and comparing the included model to true contractor quality models, and the difference becomes obvious. Certainly still a decent tool from a quality manufacturer, you just have to match models to your usage.

Re: What's This?

i have senco and paslode trim guns.

both brands work well for me but my trim guns don't get the abuse of my framing guns.

if i need a new trim gun i will try the hitachis. i have a bunch of hitachi framing guns and they never seem to break down.

i whis i could say that for my senco framers.

i don't know if senco is as good as they use to be

Re: What's This?

I use a paslode finish nailer
and a porter cable finish stapler

paslode heavy & bullet proof... but finally after many years blew O ring.
the little porter cable is lite and handy.
a crew might break it... used by me only.

Senco has always been considered top of line here on west coast
but yes, you might need to watch for new homeowner line...

My Hitachi nr83a lasted loong time and abuse before I lost an O ring.

Get out phone book and see what local tool repair shops have parts for...

Re: What's This?

I have used most of different brands of brad nailer's and find the Senco to be the best guns out there, as for finishing nailer's most of the top brands seem to all perform fairly well. Senco does offer good product support as well.

If they still have the three in one set grab it. That is all I use and there great tools. Its the finish pro 35 its what was sold 2-3years to all contractors they make a new modle of it now but not realy any differance at all its not a home owner set by any means I bought the same one last year and this year when I saw it on sale I got another one.My first one lasted 4 years with no problems in till we had a big cold spell 30 below and it did freez in my trailer so I need a new gasket for it and then I will have three of them
